Atticus Lacrosse is a premier lacrosse training and development platform dedicated to nurturing the full potential of motivated middle and high school players. Founded by a former MIAA (Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association), MLL (Major League Lacrosse), NLL (National Lacrosse League), and Division I player, our approach is deeply rooted in timeless principles. At Atticus Lacrosse, we believe in more than just developing skills; we aim to cultivate character, discipline, and a relentless work ethic that transcends the sport. Located in the heart of North Carolina's Triangle region, Atticus Lacrosse is ideally positioned to serve the communities of Raleigh, Durham, and Chapel Hill, as well as the surrounding areas. We are committed to providing high-quality, individualized coaching that prepares athletes not only for the next game, but for the challenges of life. Kyle Smedley is the CEO and Founder of the Atticus Lacrosse Company. Kyle's extensive experience in lacrosse spans over three decades, encompassing both playing and coaching roles at various levels.
Born in Dallas, Texas and raised in Baltimore, Maryland; Kyle attended St. Paul’s school in Brooklandville, MD where he helped the team win a Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association (MIAA) ‘A’ Conference championship in 2004. Kyle continued his playing career into the college ranks at Towson University, captaining the team for the 2009 season. Professionally, Kyle played for the Philadelphia Wings in the NLL (National Lacrosse League), as well as in the MLL (Major League Lacrosse) for the Chesapeake Bayhawks and the Denver Outlaws.
Upon graduating from Towson in 2009, Kyle returned to St. Paul’s as an assistant coach for the 2010 and 2011 seasons, helping guide the team to another MIAA ‘A’ Conference championship in 2010 and a semifinal appearance in 2011. He is the only person in school history to win an MIAA championship as both a player and a coach.
Relocating to San Diego, California, Kyle then took a coaching role at La Jolla High School from 2012-2020. Kyle and the La Jolla coaching staff guided the La Jolla Vikings to three straight CIF (California Interscholastic Federation) Championships in 2016, 2017, and 2018. In 2019, Kyle lead the program to its first ever undefeated season and top 25 national ranking, garnering the 2019 US Lacrosse ‘Coach of the Year’ award.
Kyle's background showcases a deep-rooted connection to lacrosse, from his early days as a player to his successful coaching career and entrepreneurial ventures with the Atticus Lacrosse Company. His accomplishments as both a player and a coach reflect his dedication, expertise, and passion for the sport.
